Education

The most important thing we can provide for these children beyond stability is education. We now have children in pre-school, kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school. Our greatest need for this program are Mexican tutors. For more information, contact Mexican Director Barbara Rueda at barbarar@santajulia.org.

Adolescent Life Skills

Our teens need life skills to lead responsible, productive personal and professional lives. The girls receive guidance on reproductive health issues, cost of living, using spare time to make things to sell, etc. The largest need here is for Mexican female mentors. For more information, contact Santa Juli’s social worker Amparo at office@santajulia.org

English

In the tourism economy of San Miguel, the children will have limited career options if they cannot speak English. Centro-Mexicano offers discounted class rates; as a girl is sponsored, we enroll them in this program. For more information, contact bilingual owner Josefina at www.josefinaschool.com.

Psychology

The girls receive ongoing psychological counseling from volunteer and paid professionals. These services are coordinated with the Madres and Santa Julia’s paid fulltime social worker, Amparo Flores Aguado. Amparo also interviews volunteers before they take girls off campus, and keeps the Santa Julia master calendar.
