We who are involved at Santa Julia have an enormous responsibility to ensure the girls’ safety in all ways. Here are policies promulgated by the Madres, the Advisory Council of Canadians, Mexicans, and U.S. citizens, and Friends of Santa Julia, the US support organization.

Policies

1.

While the girls need a balance of the genders in their lives, no man is to be with any of our girls without the presence of at least one of Santa Julia’s female authorities, which include the five Madres, the social worker, the operations manager, the US director of the Santa Julia Advisory Council, and female members of Friends of Santa Julia.

2.

We encourage communication with the girls, but no one is to email any of the girls except through info@santajulia.org, which is a monitored account.

3.

Because of their developmental circumstances, the girls crave physical contact, but there is no reason for anyone to initiate touch of any of the girls except if she is in physical danger.  We may reciprocate when a girl approaches us, but only in ways that respect personal boundaries.

4.

Santa Julia loves to have visitors, but  no one is allowed on campus without an appointment approved by one of the female campus authorities previously mentioned, we will not allow the girls to be considered as fish in a bowl to be observed.  Neither will we ask the girls to perform in any way except to express gratitude when it is appropriate.

Casa Hogar Santa Julia cannot afford for any of its supporters to have even the appearance of any kind of impropriety.  Thanks for being great friends of these girls who will therefore be known not by the circumstances of their pasts but by the successes you help them build in their futures!
