The five Madres in charge of Santa Julia together form the Community of Our Lady of the Angels. They are part of the Catholoic order Dominican Sisters of Mary, which is headquartered near Atotonilco. The work of the order includes 115 Sisters in five states serving children’s homes, seminaries, and missions.

Madre Maria de Jesus

Madre Maria de Jesus Madre Maria de Jesus is the Superiora and the Directora at Santa Julia, which means that she is in charge of the Sisters and the children. With more than 35 years of experience, she is in charge of the administrative, financial, and legal functions. She is bond mother to each of the girls and adores playing with the each of them. She explains, “We create family here. We do it three ways. With acceptance, humanity, and spirituality.”

Madre Tere

Madre Tere Madre Tere is in charge of economics for Santa Julia. She has more than 50 years of experience, including having lead the order for 12 years and the order’s economics for six. She is known as Santa Julia’s “architect” because of her depth of experience in facilities development and maintenance.

Madre Juana

Madre Juana Madre Juana looks after childcare for Santa Julia. Her responsibilities include getting the children up, bathed, dressed, coifed, ready for school, fed, changed into play clothes, changed into bed clothes, and to bed each evening.

Madre Rayo

Madre Rayo Madre Rayo is in charge of education and health at Santa Julia. She is responsible for ensuring that the girls get to their medical, dental, and school appointments. She also offers homework assistance, which many of the girls need.

Madre Gloria

Madre Gloria Madre Gloria is in charge of clothing at Santa Julia. She ensures that clothes are made, fixed, washed, dried, ironed, and folded for the girls and the five Madres.
